About the Study

Not gay as in happy, queer as in happily overthrowing capitalism.Welcome to the Queering Capitalism: Collaborative Authorship in New Media research study page. My name is Tanya Zuk and I am a Ph.D. candidate at Georgia State University. This research study is part of my dissertation project on the ways audiences and creatives collaborate in new media projects. I believe that many of these indie media projects are disrupting capitalism by prioritizing shared authorship over ownership in their creation.

This study site is designed to provide information for potential participants in the study, like new media content creators, writers, directors, social media coordinators, and coders; and the audiences who interact with and contribute to new media projects.

I am collecting data through surveys and interviews. If you are a creator, click the creatives tab for information about the survey, consent forms, and to volunteer for an interview. Likewise, if you are an audience participant and would like more information, check out your section.

For updates about the research process, upcoming conventions and events I’ll be attending check out the “Queer Utopia” blog section. Finally, if you want to contact me for any reason, there is an easy form also available.

Thank-you!
